Donation Night at The Festival of Lights at Stone Hedge Golf Course

The Burke Center, Inc. (TBC) has been selected by the Festival of Lights at Stone Hedge Golf Course (FOL) as one of the charities who benefit from their annual donation night program for a second year in a row. Originally scheduled for December 22nd, 2022, however due to inclement weather the event had to be cancelled. FOL graciously were able to reschedule for December 31st, 2022 (Saturday), and January 1st, 2022(Sunday).

On Saturday evening the FOL is open from 5:00 PM until 10:00 PM and the cost per vehicle is $35, and on Sunday evening the FOL is open from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and the cost per vehicle is $30. A portion of the proceeds from each vehicle that attends the FOL on either night will be donated to TBC to allow them to continue providing mental health services to individuals in our area.

Representatives from TBC will be on site at the FOL on Saturday and Sunday to share information about the organization, as well as raising awareness and normalizing mental health. Additionally, TBC will have a free enter-to-win giveaway for anyone who stops by to see them after seeing the lights.

FOL will close for the season on January 1st, 2023 (Sunday) this year instead of December 31st , 2022 (Saturday) to ensure all who would like to see the display will have an opportunity due to multiple weather events this season causing partial and complete closures.

The Burke Center Launches Sneaker Drive Fundraiser to Raise Money to support mental health programs and services.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Burke Center Launches Sneaker Drive Fundraiser to Raise Money to support mental health programs and services.

Tunkhannock, PA, 2022 – The Burke Center (www.burkecenter.org) is holding an ongoing athletic shoe drive fundraise to raise money for mental health programs and services.  The Burke Center will earn funds based on the total quantity of gently worn, used, and new sneakers collected. GotSneakers, a social enterprise, will issue funds in compensation for the collected sneakers. Those funds will benefit The Burke Center’s mental health programs and services. Anyone can help by simply donating gently worn, used, and new sneakers.

GotSneakers has developed a unique fundraising program that asks communities to reach into their closets, not their pockets! The sneaker recycling program helps keeps sneakers out of landfills, which has harmful effects on our environment, and helps organizations like ours raise much needed funds. The program is truly a win – win! Learn more about GotSneakers by visiting their website at www.gotsneakers.com.

“We are excited about our sneaker drive fundraiser, it’s such a unique opportunity for our organization to raise money,” said Jessica Burke, Executive Director.

“We know that most people have extra sneakers in their closets they would like to donate rather than throw away. By doing so, we raise money for The Burke Center and help the environment. It’s a win – win for everyone!”

If you have sneakers you would like to donate, they can be dropped off at The Burke Center during regular business hours:
